The 14 Stations of the Cross are a unique and exquisite work of art created by a Christian artist from Bethlehem. The artist is a renowned Mosaic artist who was chosen to present a gift from Palestine upon the visit of Pope Francis to Bethlehem in 2014.
The artist hand-crafted each individual icon from approximately 2,500 intricately hand-placed pieces of mosaic stones. The background is genuine 24-karat gold leaf in all 14 pieces.
The stones used to portray the 14 stations are gathered from special places in the Holy Land such as the source of the stone for the column of Bethlehem's Church of the Nativity, from the area near where Jesus was crucified in Jerusalem, and from the Wilderness that lies outside of Bethlehem.
The size of each station is 32" tall by 24" wide.
These stunning works of art were designed for display in the sacred space of a church sanctuary where their beauty is not only admired, but they are also hung in remembrance of what our Lord Jesus sacrificed for us.
